Mission Statement
The development, growth and nurturing of children in a safe environment is our highest priority. We seek to provide an environment based on Christian values in which children can develop age-appropriate social and emotional skills, learn and explore, welcome the gift of diversity, and achieve solid, foundational steps for their future success.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is to provide a warm, caring, loving and safe environment for your child. Stepping Stones encourages activities and opportunities for children to learn and grow through social, emotional, spiritual and physical activities. We provide a wholesome and well-rounded atmosphere for your child based on Christian principles. Our program is based on the belief that the children learn best through play, hands-on activities, and using their senses. Play and exploration are the key to our Early Learning curriculum.
History
In 1970, Stepping Stones Nursery School and Day Care Center was founded as an outreach of Grace Lutheran Church to the Hatfield community. It opened as a nursery school with a before- and after-school program added later. Eventually the day care expanded to add preschool-age children and toddlers. Stepping Stones has continued to serve the community even though a 2011 fire destroyed the building that was used by the school. The school survived the fire and the relocation to St. Maria Goretti church in Hatfield. It continues to offer a quality program with a quality staff and is back at 40 North Main Street, Hatfield.
